Whitstable, un’oasi di pace a pochi chilometri da Londra
Whitstable é un piccolo paesino di mare di poco piú di 30 mila abitanti, a est di Londra. Ci si impiega circa un’ora di treno per arrivare ed é sicuramente una buona location per trascorrere una giornata al mare senza allontanarsi troppo dalla cittá. Il paese é famoso per le ostriche, infatti ci sono ristorantini e locali che le vendono in ogni angolo.
Questo posto é davvero un’oasi di pace e di relax, soprattutto in questo periodo dell’anno perché non ancora preso d’assalto dai turisti. La cittá infatti é famosa anche per essere abbastanza ventosa, quindi non é difficile capire come mai ci siano moltissime barchette a vela e windsurfer. Qui ogni angolino é buono per aprire una piccola boutique o shop, dove si vendono oggetti fatti a mano o abiti vintage. Ci sono moltissimi posti interessanti per fermarsi e mangiare un boccone, l’unico consiglio é quello di prenotare in anticipo, o finirete col restare a bocca asciutta…come me, o quasi!
La giornata é trascorsa lentamente, la passeggiata nel piccolo centro é stata un tripudio di colori e cosine belle da vedere. Il castello di Whitstable merita una sosta obbligatoria, soprattutto se il tempo permette. Il giardino ed il castello stesso sono ben curati e la sala da te interna offre un sacco di buonissime delizie tra cui scones, tartellette ai lamponi e l’immancabile Victoria sponge.

The day passed slowly, the walk in the small centre has been a triumph of colours and so beautiful to see. The Whitstable Castle deserves a mandatory stop, especially if weather permits. The garden and the castle itself are well cared for and the indoor dining room offers a lot of delicious delicacies including scones, raspberry tarts and the inevitable Victoria Sponge.Link Useful
