Alla ricerca del miglior afternoon tea londinese: St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel

Nella mia ricerca del miglior afternoon tea londinese,  dopo aver visitato il mitico Claridge’s, non potevo farmi mancare il famosissimo St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel, situato a King’s Cross Station. L’hotel, oltre ad essere uno dei piú belli di Londra, é anche famoso per essere stato la location del famoso video delle Spice Girls “Wannabe”, girato interamente all’iterno dell’hotel (famosa é la scalinata principale che porta alle camere dove le Spice ballano il ritornello).

Questo hotel in stile gotico vittoriano, si trova in una delle location piú visitate di Londra, che i fan di Harry Potter dovrebbero conoscere ,molto bene, visto che proprio nella stazione di King’s Cross si trova il famoso binario 9 e 3/4 dove é possibile farsi una foto con il carrello che entra per metá nel muro “magico” che porta al treno per Hogwards!

L’afternoon tea al St. Pancras é stata un’esperienza piacevole, soprattutto grazie alla deliziosa assistente che ci ha spiegato per filo e per segno che cosa avremm mangiato da li a poco. La clotted cream rimane il mio momento di culmine durante un afternoon tea, se quella non é buona tutto il resto non importa. Deliziosi i tramezzini, soprattutto quelli con carne e salsa di senape, non avendo io una grande predilezione per i dolci, ho assaggiato un po’ tutte le opzioni ma devo dire che nessuno mi ha colpita particolarmente. Lo champagne rosé ca va sans dire era buonissimo, cosi come il cocktail analcolico alla frutta che ha preso la mia compagna di avventure Enrica, (nonché bravissima fotografa) e molto buona anche la selezione di te, quello alla mandorla e al jasmine che abbiamo provato noi erano ottimi.

Ma passiamo ora alla pagella! 🙂

Ambiente: 7/10 (per quanto riguarda la sala da the solamente)

After visiting the legendary Claridge’s, my search for the best London afternoon tea took me to the unmissable and super renowned St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel, located at King’s Cross Station. The hotel, in addition to being one of the most beautiful in London, is also famous for being the location of the “Wannabe” Spice Girls’ video, shot entirely in this building (the main staircase leading to the rooms became super famous thanks to this video!).

This Victorian Gothic hotel is situated close to one of the most visited locations in London, which Harry Potter fans should know very well. Just around the corner from the Renaissance Hotel, you can find King’s Cross station, where the famous platform 9 and 3/4 is: you can also take a picture with the iconic trolley half-stuck in the wall, entering the magic realm and the train that takes to Hogwarts!

The afternoon tea at St. Pancras was a pleasant experience, especially thanks to the delightful waitress who explained to us in detail what we would have eaten. The clotted cream remains for me the crucial element during any afternoon tea, I love to treat myself to this creamy pleasure and it has to be absolutely perfect. The sandwiches were delicious, especially those with meat and mustard sauce; as I personally do not have a sweet tooth, I tasted all the sweet options presented but unfortunately, I wasn’t incredibly impressed. The champagne rosé was perfect, as well as the non-alcoholic fruit cocktail that my adventurous companion Enrica (an outstanding photographer) ordered, and very good selection of teas. The almond and jasmine infuse that we tried were superb!
